Did you choose print or did print choose you?

Like any healthy long-term relationship, it’s been both. Print chose me first, and then I chose print, and it’s continued like that through the years. Back and forth, give and take, and I think that’s why I’ve had such a rich, fulfilling career in print and packaging.

How do you establish credibility with colleagues, clients and bosses?

To a large extent, my work speaks for itself – in design, that’s important.

Showcasing my work is easy but marketing myself? Let’s just say, I’m my toughest client. I package my business – my brand identity, my website, my communications – really anything that represents me – in the same way, that I package a specialty food or cosmetic – ever-aware of connecting with the audience. I keep my eye on the positioning, the messaging, the concept, the design, and all the accompanying details. In that way, my credibility in strategizing and designing for brands is grounded from the heart.

In 50 words or less tell us your mission for elevating Print this year.

Packaging has to do more in 2021. Opportunities to connect have narrowed. When you finally get your product in front of a customer, the packaging had better deliver. And what better way than accessing someone’s emotions? My mission is to create printed packaging that elicits an enduring emotional connection.
